The Dachshund Cap is an easygoing washed-blue dad cap with a hand-drawn long dog stitched front and centre. Low-profile and relaxed from day one, it settles in with wear and goes wherever you do—from the first coffee run to the long way home.

A recycled visor holds the curve. A solid-brass clasp handles the adjustment. The full build standard is published below, so this bit can stay simple: good lid, great dog, no shortcuts.

Shell and fit

Shell
100% combed cotton twill, enzyme washed, with a finished weight of 295 GSM ±5%. No synthetic blend.
Crown
Low-profile, unstructured six-panel build with taped internal seams and 6 mm minimum seam allowance.
Sewing
Type 301 lockstitch at 10 stitches per inch. Thread ends trimmed to 3 mm or less.
Sweatband
30 mm brushed-cotton band around the full inside circumference, tested to the same colourfastness standard as the shell.
Fit
Adjustable from 54–62 cm with a 20 mm self-fabric strap. Finished cap weight: 95 g ±5 g.

Cap-specific embroidery

Thread
40-weight (Tex 27) trilobal polyester with an OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Product Class I certificate valid for the exact thread.
Recycled content
100% recycled polyester, shown on a valid GRS transaction certificate or eTrackit eTransaction for the supplied lot.
Lightfastness
AATCC TM16.3-2020 Option 3: Grade 4 minimum after 20 AFU exposure.
Digitising
0.40 mm fill spacing, 0.20 mm pull compensation and no non-locking production stitch shorter than 0.5 mm.
Stabilising
3.0 oz cap backing and a #75/11 sharp needle, selected for dense cotton twill.
Sequence
Digitised in sections, working from the centre out and the visor upward to control movement.
Registration
Outline and fill must align within 0.5 mm, with no puckering, skipped stitches or exposed jumps over 3 mm.

Why no inflated stitch count? More stitches are not automatically better. Excess density makes a soft crown pucker. Spacing, tension, backing and registration are the figures that control the finish.

Pre-curved, 2.2 mm 100% recycled polyethylene, supported by a GRS transaction certificate.

20 mm solid-brass slider and tuck, never brass-coloured plated steel.
Salt exposure
Closure remains functional with no red rust after 48 hours under ISO 9227 NSS neutral salt spray.
Patina
Uncoated brass may darken with wear. That natural surface change is not corrosion failure.

Batch proof

Colourfastness
Grade 4 minimum for colour change and staining under AATCC TM15 perspiration and TM106 seawater; grade 4 dry and 3–4 wet under TM8 rubbing.
Shape
No more than 2% circumference change after three documented cold hand-wash and shade air-dry cycles.
Closure strength
No slip, tearing or hardware failure under a 200 N pull held for 10 seconds.
Inspection
100% embroidery and hardware check, then ISO 2859-1:2026 normal inspection, General Level II, single-sampling plan: zero critical defects, AQL 1.0 major / 2.5 minor.
Evidence
Each cap’s sewn-in care label carries a traceable lot code. Supplier certificates, the inspection report and accredited-lab test reports are retained for five years.

The dachshund started as a pencil drawing.

The original drawing is rebuilt stitch by stitch for a finished cap. Directional fill gives the coat its shape, while a clean satin outline holds the silhouette across the centre seam. Fill and outline must register within 0.5 mm.

What size is it?
The brass buckle adjusts from 54–62 cm. Measure around your head where the sweatband will sit and allow a little room for comfort.
What makes the embroidery high quality?
It is digitised specifically for a curved, unstructured cap: 40-weight GRS-traced recycled-polyester thread with Grade 4 lightfastness after 20 AFU, 0.40 mm fill spacing, 0.20 mm pull compensation and registration within 0.5 mm. Every cap is checked for puckering, gaps, skipped stitches and loose jumps.
How should I wash it?
Hand wash cold with mild detergent, reshape while damp and air dry in the shade. Do not machine wash, tumble dry or bleach.
How does the buckle handle salt water?
It is solid brass, not brass-coloured plated steel, and must remain functional with no red rust after a 48-hour neutral salt-spray test. Brass can darken naturally. Rinse after salt water and dry the cap in the shade.
